Family Retreat 2009: in a 'few' lines..

And finally, the company's family day is over. Although it is somewhat a relief, I wanted to have more days. I would not say the event was good (cuz I was the part of the organizing team) although I am satisfied with the outcome (apart from the hotel screwing up my day on the day participants arrive).

To most, it may just be another family day. But I was exposed to a new definition of the word 'family';) I'll shaddap on this for now;p

Anyhow, the committees went a day earlier. Albeit some thinking going early is of low importance, I strongly say differently - what a mood spoiler when I heard that piece.

Had a meeting between the event manager, committee members and the hotel reps (about 20 of them alone! - nk jaga standard la ye?;p). Did a run through on the whole event and all seemed great to go. Meeting finished at about 715pm and most went to their rooms to rest.. Me? I just lingered around starting the point of arrival to make sure everything was tip top;)

That nite, we prepared the goody bags. We helped the event management to finish that which ended at almost 2am - no biggie cuz it was fun.

About 230pm on Friday, the participants arrived. some (or most!) rooms were not ready although we were told that they can be ready by 12noon. That was a real shithole. I was pissed with the hotel unit that was arranging this! As much as I wanted to mantain my poise, I flipped to some people - diplomatically if I might add. And dissapointment was written all over my forehead - people could see I was damn upset. But they knew I was that way because of I wanted things at best standard possible (in a non-diva like way;p). This part, I hated the hotel damn lot. The other units at the hotel were so accomodating and were great. 1 je yg buat tahi. Aiyak, what to do. Really beyond our control.

And the day went on.. I left the arrival venue and headed to the night event's venue. All seemed well. I would not want to elaborate much about the dinner events cuz they were ok (cuma some parts I need to work on in the future). MC was Azfar (of Malaysian Idol fame) on the 1st night, Saturday's telematch and dinner as well. Artist was Alif (of One in A Million fame). Together, they were hilarious. Although I heard some feedback on the MC for the 1st night, kids, from my eyes enjoyed the whole setting. Yes, I agree on him talking a teeny wee bit too much but hey, there's always room for improvement right? Naturally, he is funny. Full stop!;p

Alif, on the other hand, was great. Just how I imagined it to be. Able to engage all age groups of the crowd and pull them into his world (not to mention getting our booties shakin!;p). When his name was first suggested to us during a meeting, I immediately went 'YES!'. And now I live happily with that decision made. Hehee;) 2nd night was undoubtedly the better night.

Saturday morning started off with Poco-poco on the beach. 40 - 50 participated! That's a good number. Instructor; none other than yours truly;p since it was frigging hot, we only did 2 rounds although the target was 3 (or more).

The telematch kicked off rather shaky but all ended well. Cuma it was HOT! DAMN HOT! My forehead is now killing me. I am tanned and tensed!;p

All in all, the event was a fun one - from the organizer's point of view that is. I hope participants feel the same or better. Pics will be uploaded later. Gua tak byk amik gambar cuz my hands were tied a bit.
